Velvet Season update: chapter 2 is up
Readers have chosen our cup, read our tea leaves, and set out to work in the hot hot sun. There aren’t any choices to make in the two pages released this week but we meet some animal elders and learn a bit about the mysterious Tuor.
I added the new pages Sunday but felt like the Internet was too busy to post last night. It’s probably too busy still, but maybe people would like a bit of respite from awards show takes?
Outside, inside, the early stages of a dragon’s hoard
In real-life news, I left the house two days in a row; which is a thing that I could not have said truthfully since last summer.
The downside to going out is that my household is apparently the only one still wearing masks around here. I absolutely do not care about getting weird looks, and am mentally prepared to just wear a mask when in public for the rest of my life, but it’s depressing knowing that I’m surrounded by people who have no concern for health.
Now that warmer weather is in sight (I say this but when I woke up this morning there was a dusting of snow on the ground) I’ll hopefully have lots of out-in-the-yard time soon. For now though my indoor life is a lot of treasure hunting and settling in as I continue to unpack. I found another box of books in my closet this weekend. (Let’s all hope the floors are truly solid. There’s… so many books here.) I’d really like to get the spare room we shoved all the still-packed boxes in cleared out, make it a laundry room, and turn the upstairs den into something suitable for guests. There’s not much to do here if someone were to visit, but … I guess they could get a lot of reading done? 📚
Other than reading, I’ve been trying my hand at floral arrangement, artificial that is, because of the cats and my long-term goal of keeping them alive. (10 years going strong, knock on wood.) But also, I struggle with the idea of clipping living flowers that were doing perfectly fine out in the sunshine and fresh air and bringing them inside to die. It’s different if they’re from a florist, but when I could see them from my windows? Seems unnecessary.
Should I court the wavy glass influencer scene?
I don’t have any pretty garden photos yet—but there are tulip tips starting to poke through so it shouldn’t be too long. (✿◠‿◠) Here are some details of some of my favorite spots in the house. I’ve been having really good luck at my favorite antique shop and vintage shops online. I miss thrifting and flea markets so so much. It’s become a recurring dream!
Details only because most of the full photos will someday be “before shots” as I haven’t made any cosmetic changes to the interior yet. Got big plans for stripping wallpaper and repainting several rooms, but until I can get to that, I’m trying to bring in things that are more me to chase away the previous owners’ bad vibes. They painted over wallpaper. AND the woodwork in the dining room. Sickos.
Warm wishes that your week is as pleasant as a hoodie straight from the dryer,
Liz
