a little divination

Hello friends!

We’re doin’ it. Chapter 1 ends with your average daily divination. (The best part of wakin’ up is a future in your cup.) It’s about time to get to… work? This chapter was quick and mostly just to get those choices sorted out. We’re gonna meet some animals in Chapter 2, I promise. But who we meet first depends on the leaves, gentle readers.

As for non-fiction, I’ve had some Spring harbingers visit this week:

This was my first winter in the Adirondacks and while the snow is awfully pretty it’s also a real pain in the ass. I’m already an anxious driver so throw slick roads in the mix and I’m basically shut down in full hibernation mode. The ice did a number on my porch steps and railings. I’m so done with it and ready to see the results of all of the landscaping work from the end of the summer. We relocated most of the thirty rosebushes from the tangle in the back yard to the side yard. Did I ever in my life think I’d be a person with a rose garden? (Or a house, let’s be honest.) But I’ll tell you what, I am not moving again. I’m gonna haunt this house and if they knock it down someday I’m going to haunt whatever replaces it even if that means I’m the parking lot ghost. I am here. This is where I’ll be if you need me or not.

In a few weeks I’ll have been here a year, and maybe I’ll get to start all of the things I’d planned to do before all the surprise repairs popped up. At least having to replace every appliance unexpectedly led us to discover a major electrical issue that would’ve caused a fire if left hidden behind the wall ovens. (⊙ˍ⊙) Maybe I have a Kika looking out for me. (Oops, you haven’t met Kika. Something to look forward to—she’s a delight.)

Until next week,
Liz
